If you were planning on purchasing a new pair of high-end loudspeakers this year — you really need to put the new SVS Ultra Evolution Series on your short-list. We always make a point of spending time with the company at trade shows, but CES 2024 might be the start of something very significant from this American brand.
The new Ultra Evolution loudspeakers are very different from any of their previous models and to call the Pinnacle a “bargain” at $5,000 might seem like somewhat of a stretch — but in the context of the high-end home theater market filled with floor standing flagship models that are double or triple the price — these are a high-performance value option.
- Ultra Evolution Pinnacle (largest floorstander) – $5,000/pair
- Ultra Evolution Titan (middle sized floorstander) – $4,000/pair
- Ultra Evolution Tower (smallest floorstander) – $3,000/pair
- Ultra Evolution Bookshelf (largest stand-mount) – $1,299/pair
- Ultra Evolution Nano (smallest stand-mount) – $899/pair
- Ultra Evolution Elevation (height speaker) – $899/pair
- Ultra Evolution Center – $899 each
Here’s what we know so far.
The eye-catching new change is the curved cabinent structure on both the front and rear sides, which is typically not seen at such affordable price points. Furthermore, we were surprised to see rear speaker drivers on all of floorstanding models and an all-new 1″ diamond coated tweeter shared across the line.
Both high gloss black and white finishes were on display, and each looked luxurious.
Our brief demo had us intrigued how a 5.2.2 Ultra Evolution speaker system with a single Denon AVR-X4800H A/V receiver could deliver such dynamics — even admist the craziness of a convention hall in an area with no ceiling. Last year’s demo in the same environment impressed us, but this year was even better. Has SVS cracked the code on affordable home theater? By far the best home theater demonstration at CES 2024.
Let’s take a more detailed look at all of the new models.

I know these are great speakers, but why “game changers”?

To be more precise, they have the potential to be “game changers”.

Generally speakers of this style and which are capable of this level of dynamic range (such as the Gryphon Pantheons) cost over $40,000. If these have similar performance then it would be a big disruptor in this space.

Hmmmmmm…If I may?
Given the price of its competition I would say that when this level of quality can be had without the buyer being taken, that in and of itself is the beginning of change. Anyone can “change”, even the “game”. But what is needed is change for the better. These speakers are up to that goal.
On top of that, bespoke doth not begin to describe these speakers, my fellow audio enthusiasts! Becool on the other hand, could well be the term we should be considering.
Sho’ nuff!

I was at CES 2024. The awesome folks of SVS let me listen to some songs from my phone connected to the Prime Wireless Pro Sound Base. I was definitely moved by the performance of the Ultra Evolution Titan. They really didn’t have any right to sound as good as they did on a trade show floor, but they did.

Looking forward to hearing them at AXPONA in April! I have the Ultra series(towers/center/bookshelves)in one of my systems … looking forward to hearing the difference and whether or not another $5K is a worthwhile spend for one of my 2-channel rigs.

I love that SVS puts white grills on white speakers. More manufacturers should do that.

Evan,
Because SVS is run by very smart business people who understand the market. Some brands are utterly clueless.
Best,

Thanks for highlighting this company/speakers, Brian. These will be on my short list of speakers for a HT upgrade at some point. As you also say Ian, SVS understands the market, price points and overall value…competition is a good thing. It’s also one of the few HT options that offers an integrated height speaker in the package that’s not just a book-shelf add-on and/or where you have to go searching for the that speaker in their catalog
Any other speakers/companies you’d put in the SVS category? Also, any way to get your hands on anything from this company for a review? https://arendalsound.com/
I have a 2.1 system (SVS Prime Wireless Pro/SVS SB-1000 Pro 12″) for our tv room (casual watching) and have been impressed with the sounds/clarity (use TV audio for center channel). The piano black has held up suprisingly well and does show the occasional paw print. Thanks!
