KEF is a very popular maker of innovative loudspeakers that complement the music and home theater listening experience. A number of us have been KEF users for many years and consider them to be some of the finest loudspeakers that you can buy and we know that we’re not alone in that assessment.
One of the great things about KEF is that when they introduce a speaker, it stays in the lineup for a while. One example is their ultra-compact KC62 powered subwoofer which has received accolades for its design and performance.
When the KC62 was introduced in early 2021, it was offered with either a Carbon Black or Mineral White Finish. For 2023, KEF has decided to give the KC62 a fresh look by offering a third color finish option: Titanium Grey.
Here is an overview of what the KC62 offers on the inside:
Uni-Core Technology
The foundation of the KC62 is the implementation of KEF’s Uni-Core technology. Two dual force-canceling drivers that incorporate concentrically arranged, overlapping voice coils, are driven by a single motor. The voice coils are of different sizes and occupy the same physical space within the Uni-Core™ driver assembly. This design enables KEF to make KC62 extremely compact while still producing effective bass output.
P-Flex
The P-Flex surround material (aka Origami surround due to its unique pleated formation) adds to the support of deeper bass extension, more detailed bass reproduction, and reduced distortion.
Smart Distortion Control Technology
KEF’s Smart Distortion Control Technology helps correct any minute abnormalities that may be present so that the KC62 can deliver more accurate bass performance.
Music Integrity Engine
The Music Integrity Engine, in combination with powerful amplification, ensures the KC62 will provide a quality listening experience.
Design Meets Substance
The exterior design of the KC62 features a curved Aluminum cabinet that provides both strength and beauty. With its ultra-compact design and three color options, the KC62 looks as good as it sounds and is especially suited to complement KEF’s LS50 Wireless II or LSX II powered speakers, as well as other speaker combinations.
