Comment on Big Audio Deal: $1500 Off Rotel’s S14 Network Streaming Amplifier (Now $999) by ORT https://www.ecoustics.com/deals/rotel-s14/#comment-319350 Tue, 07 May 2024 13:18:06 +0000 https://www.ecoustics.com/products/chord-suzi/#comment-319350 If not for my choice of HEOS and Grace Digital equipment I would take a closer look at this by buying and using one. I have HEOS and Grace Digital for my steaming music needs but like Bluesound, this is another good choice. I have never had the desire to try out Sonos but it doubtless gets the bits right too.

Grace is the best bang for the buck as bits are bits. The DAC either decodes it all into analog or not. I’ve never had equipment from anywhere have any problems decoding dem dare bitses.

Comment on Gryphon Audio’s PowerZone 3 Power Conditioners Are Designed For Ultra High-End Systems by Ed Brumbaugh https://www.ecoustics.com/products/gryphon-audio-powerzone-3/#comment-317759 Fri, 03 May 2024 12:51:57 +0000 https://www.ecoustics.com/products/chord-suzi/#comment-317759 Pricing aside, I followed your link to the Gryphone website to read more about the tech … was left still not knowing why anyone would want one of these power conditioners, or what makes it superior to other products in this category, i.e., Panamax M5400-PM that provides power line conditioning, surge protection, and voltage regulation. A quote from the Gryphon website: “Audio components powered by a properly guided current flow will deliver vastly superior performance: the current will suffer less artifacts and restrictions resulting in a faster, smoother, more precise and cleaner performance.” Based on what? They don’t share any information on how they tested or came to the conclusion that its “vastly superior” … in short, the entire website discussion for the PowerZone comes across as nothing more than more high end product hyperbole, but I digress. Always enjoy reading about new tech, even if company product descriptions seem to be rooted in good creative writing. As an engineer, I always enjoy a few test results that backup what the manufacture is claiming about their product, but as you said up front, people buying these systems could probably care less about that.

Comment on Volumio’s Motivo Music Streamer Offers Two Headphone Outputs and Support For I2S/DSD over HDMI by ORT https://www.ecoustics.com/products/volumio-motivo/#comment-317654 Fri, 03 May 2024 02:47:12 +0000 https://www.ecoustics.com/products/chord-suzi/#comment-317654 At first glance it reminds me of the Logitech Squeezebox Touch. Touche’ Volumio. No harm in reminding many of us of our first Music Steamer. I still own a Squeezebox Radio but it really no longer works as it is long since abandoned by Logitech.

Given that I own and use several Internet capable radios and tuners (by Grace Digital and Denon HEOS) that cost me a LOT less than would this Voumio, I am certain that unless I suddenly become stoopid wealthy (I’d even take stupid healthy right now!) I shall not become an owner of this plainly attractive device.

Simply beautiful and beautifully simple. Or so one would hope. It is nice looking. I look forward to reading more about it and wish the company well.

Comment on Hisense Goes After Samsung, Sony with U9N MiniLED TV with 5,000 Nits of Brightness by ORT https://www.ecoustics.com/products/hisense-u9n-tv-2024/#comment-317599 Thu, 02 May 2024 17:44:24 +0000 https://www.ecoustics.com/products/chord-suzi/#comment-317599 In reply to Chris Boylan.

Lately I can barely speak English and my last Star Wars Moisture Vaporator went on vacation and I took it to the local Best Buy to have it recycled. But I do think well of Hisense TVs now. Now. Not a few weeks ago, but now that it is working as it should and my daughter’s new Hisense is working fine out of the box, I can say without hesitation that I like TVs by Hisense.

My R2BDM said Hisense is both excellent and affordable. I also have a friend that is Gungan but I canna understand him at all as he is French.
