A recent trend in high-end audio has manufacturers collaborating with luxury clothing brands, car manufacturers, and music venues on special edition versions of their best products. Headphone manufacturers such as Klipsch and Bowers & Wilkins have already introduced a number of limited edition headphones in partnership with McLaren Automotive. The new McLaren version of the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 Wireless Headphones were announced earlier today.
So what does any of that have to do with Devialet? The French manufacturer definitely marches down the Champs-Élysées to its own beat and we’ve always been impressed with some of its more interesting collaborations.
The French luxury audio brand has had a five year partnership with the Opéra national de Paris and has previously released three wireless speakers in collaboration, which include the:
- Devialet Phantom I 108 dB Opéra de Paris ($3900)
- Devialet Phantom II 98 dB Opéra de Paris ($1900)
- Devialet Mania Opéra de Paris ($790)
Today, Devialet’s Dione luxury soundbar joins that list. This special edition version follows the regular “high-end” version that arrived in black earlier this year for $2,400. The new gold edition, inspired by the gilded interiors of Paris’ Opéra Garnier, will set you back $2,900. It shows off a “22-carat moon gold central plate,” which sure looks nice but we’re not exactly sure what that is.
The new Devialet Dione Opéra de Paris is a Dolby Atmos® 5.1.2 soundbar that packs everything into a fancier design. Other than aesthetics, both soundbars are exactly the same inside and should sound identical.
What’s unique about Dione is its center ORB speaker rotates depending whether its placed flat on a media cabinet or mounted vertically on the wall.
The soundbars combine 17 Devialet-designed neodymium drivers in a 5.1.2 configuration using proprietary technologies such as ADH® amplification, SAM® signal treatment, spatialization with SPACE™ and reinforced 3D immersion thanks to Advanced Dimensional Experience (ADE). In addition, its Real-time dynamic equalization with Adaptive Volume Level (AVL™) claims to offer unbelievably deep bass whatever the volume.
