When Naim Audio introduced the original Uniti Atom Network Amplifier, the industry was caught off guard; the British manufacturer combined innovative industrial design, class AB power, and one of the best streaming modules available in a chassis that took up very little space. My only criticisms were that Naim needed to include an internal phono stage at the asking price and that it could run out of steam with more demanding loudspeakers.
The new Naim Uniti Nova PE Network Amplifier still does not include a phono stage, but the power has more than tripled to 150 watts per channel; that increase in power comes with a rather large uptick in price as well.
Naim has also switched over to class D amplifier technology with the Uniti Nova PE.
With a sleek design, brushed aluminum box and LCD screen, Uniti Nova PE has been developed to meet the needs of demanding hi-fi loudspeakers; Naim has wisely migrated the Uniti Atom’s top mounted volume wheel into the design which illuminates as your rotate it.
Uniti Nova PE
Uniti Nova PE ($9,999) joins Uniti Atom ($3,799), Uniti Atom Headphone Edition ($3,799), Uniti Star ($5,699), Uniti Nova ($6,899) and Uniti Core ($3,199): these players are a benchmark in terms of their component quality, amplification performance, and their wireless and network-based listening features.
The Nova PE (Power Edition) offers all the features and sophistication that have won the Uniti series global acclaim. Indeed, Uniti Nova PE uses Naim’s latest NP800 low-noise streaming card to masterfully handle internet radio stations and music streaming services – including Spotify Connect, Apple Music, TIDAL and Qobuz – plus offers easy connection to your devices via Bluetooth aptX HD, Apple AirPlay 2, and Chromecast.
It also supports UPnP technologies and Roon Ready solutions in high resolution files up to 32-bit/384kHz. Moreover, it’s easy to connect to your TV via HDMI ARC to enhance your audio-visual experience and allow you to control the volume via your TV’s remote control.
If you’re using a network of Naim streaming products at home, the Multiroom feature in the Focal & Naim application allows ease of control over multiple music and streaming services via a single interface.
For sharing the same music throughout your home network (up to 6 devices), use the Party Mode function in the app to easily control the playlist, independent device volume and more.
To enjoy listening wherever you are in the home, it is also compatible with all Naim streaming devices, to facilitate a multi-room audio system.
